Are you ready for a fresh perspective on your old anxieties and performance blocks?
Polyvagal Theory is the science behind how our nervous system works, and how we can become stuck in cycles of anxiety by stored responses in the body. Polyvagal Theory helps us to understand that our anxiety has very little to do with what is in our heads. We do not control our reactions to trauma or anxiety, so talking about it over and over won’t actually change how our nervous system responds to it. With some understanding of our hierarchal nervous system, and some very simple tools, we can re-negotiate with our responses to create a safe place to play. This workshop will teach you how to create a new ‘story’ for our body-to-brain messaging, foster a new acceptance to our hard-working nervous system, and to create new neural pathways to help us find a safe place to land. It's also a great day to connect with other artists.
February 16, 10-6
All organic, locally grown food, including warm-up breakfast, coffee/tea, lunch and snacks, will be supplied.
You will be asked to bring your instrument if you are able. You will not need to perform or even open it, just to have it there. For voice or other performance arts feel free to bring sheet music or a script. Please bring a notebook and wear good boots and dress for the weather, as we will be outside walking for a portion of the afternoon, rain, snow or shine!
The schedule for the day:
Arrive at the farm.
9/10 am, coffee + breakfast will be supplied. Intros + hellos, some info on me, backgrounds of participants if wanted. (9am is proposed for those who need to arrive after a morning routine but you will not be ‘late’ if you arrive by 10.)
11 am the visual presentation of Polyvagal Theory will begin and take approximately 90-100 mins with a short break. There will be time for questions and individual experiences to be shared.
