About this event

*This sign-up is only for cadets registered in Level 4 at 75 Squadron*

There are two other signups for Levels 1&2 and for Level 3 cadets.

As part of the mandatory program, 75 Squadron's cadets are invited to sign-up to experience an in-person Aircrew Survival Exercise. In addition to learning about survival, cadets will be benefit from teambuilding activities and leadership developmental opportunities all while respecting pandemic precautions. We ask that you read all of the following details prior to signing up.

Transportation: Cadets are expected to travel to and from the training site, Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Leitrim, by their own means (parent/guardian drop off/pick-up). Your arrival should be 15 minute early. Important Covid-19 test: If the cadet or anyone in the household is not feeling well or showing symptoms of Covid-19, or if anyone from the same household has tested positive for Covid-19, or if anyone has come into contact with an individual with Covid-19, you must stay home and cancel your participation. All cadets will be asked these questions upon arrival. We will be sending cadets home should they fail the above Covid-19 test. Colour groups at drop off and pick-up areas: cadets will be signing up by colour group for distancing/cohort purposes. Be sure to drop off the cadet with the right colour group, pick-up/drop off sites will be visually identifiable as either red - blue - yellow - purple. Ensure pick-up is exactly at the end time as we need to clear the site to prepare for other groups. The end time provided includes buffer time for the activities - we will not be ending late.

Dress & weather: Cadets will wear the Field Training Uniform (FTU)(the green one) and have weather appropriate outdoor clothing. This activity will take place rain or shine, so bring warm/water proof clothing. Cadets who don't have FTU will have a chance to have it kitted to them during the activity, pending available sizes. Wear warm outdoor civilian clothing you can get dirty (no shorts!). Cadets who have FTU that doesn't fit - wash it and bring it in a bag: we may be able to exchange it for a larger size. If you haven't received your rank badges or slip-ons, we will also aim to hand these out during this activity.

What to bring: Cadets must bring their own refillable water bottle (with water in it!) with their last name on them. (Pro-tip: Always identify personal belongings with last name. Cadets often forget/leave items behind). Bring a small paper pad and writing tool. What not to bring: Jewelry, electronics, or any valuables of any sort. Cadets will be active in a field/forest like setting - 75 Squadron is not liable for any losses of cadets' personal items.

Supervision & bubble groups: This activity is entirely organized by 75 Squadron. Adult staff (Officers and NCMs) from the cadet program and from 75 Squadron will be on site to supervise. Cadets will be assigned to a specific group based on your sign-up by group (Yellow - Jackets; BLUE - Aces; Purple Legends; and RED - Rebels). Cadets and staff will not be allowed to interact outside of that group. Cadets must adhere to instructions given throughout the activity. Cadets who who don't follow instructions will be sent home with the parent/guardian.

Non-Medical Masks (NMM). Cadets and staff will be required to bring (wear) their own mask.

COVID-19 Guidelines

1. General. No cadet or adult staff member under a quarantine or self-isolation order at the time of, or during the scheduled activity is permitted to attend any in person activity. This also applies if a person who lives in the same residence as the cadet or staff member is under a quarantine or self-isolation order. This restriction will remain in effect until the quarantine or self-isolation order has been lifted or has expired.

2. COVID-19 safety officer. The OPI for each activity will ensure that an officer is appointed to fill this function daily.

3. Daily Screening. Cadets and staff reporting for training will have to complete the daily self-assessment questionnaire (from either a provincial or federal health agency). When concerns are noted, the cadet or staff member will be dismissed from the training and returned home.

4. COVID-19 Testing. Where there is a suspicion of possible COVID-19 infection, cadets or staff suspected will be required to submit to a COVID-19 test and isolate until such a time as a negative result is received.

5. PHMs training. All participants will have to attend the PHMs training given on day 1 by the group leader. A presentation with all the points to be covered will be provided.

6. International travel restrictions. Cadets or staff planning to attend in-person training must confirm that they have not travelled internationally for a period of not less than one (1) month prior to their activity start date;

7. Masks. Wearing a non-medical mask (NMM) is mandatory for all personnel and cadets during indoor and outdoor activities, regardless of the type of activity. The NMM can only be removed when consuming food or drink if a physical distance of two (2) meters is maintained and must be replaced immediately after consumption.

8. Disinfectant products. Disinfectant products such as wipes, gel, soap and more will be distributed by RCSU.

9. Hand washing. Cadets and staff must wash their hands for a minimum of three (3) times per day (arrival, lunch, and departure).

10. Physical distancing. All applicable physical distancing guidelines must be followed.

11. Groups (Bubbling). In order to maintain the integrity of grouping, interactions between personnel external to the group must be minimized as much as possible.

12. Dining areas (if applicable). Cadets must maintain a physical distance of two (2) meters. If there are tables, they should be cleaned after each meal. Hand washing stations should be provided at the entrance.

14. Common areas. Common areas should be limited to a group. There should be separate areas for each group or set schedules to ensure that groups do not mix. Hand washing stations should be provided at the entrance.

15. Classrooms (if applicable). All classrooms should be arranged to maintain a distance of two (2) meters, and should be thoroughly cleaned at least once a day, if used. Where there is sufficient infrastructure, classrooms should be allocated and must not be shared between groups, i.e. only assign one group per classroom.

16. Equipment. The equipment must be limited to the use by a single participant. If the equipment is to be shared, it must be sanitized between users. At the end of an activity, all equipment must be disinfected.

In case it was missed, this activity is by sign-up only. Once the spots are filled some cadets may be added to a waitlist. Once the deadline is reached, sign-up will no longer be possible. Note that there may be additional opportunities in the future to experience marksmanship. 75 staff will register cadets in our program's database (Fortress) to capture participation attendance and for contact tracing purposes. Do ensure that the cadet gets in the habit of checking their email regularly. Emails from our program are primarily sent to the cadets participating.
