About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour
  • ALL AGES

A series of work-in-progress nights invite gentle audience co-creation as Literal Trash innocently reflects on a new-found (loveable) interior space, the rare occasion of being around people, and the domino effect of heaping existential feelings.

~RSVP online, PWYC at the show~

We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

  • Because the Literal Trash character interacts with willing audience members in a friendly, immersive way, each night is different, so please feel free to stop by more than once as the show develops in its run.
  • 30 seats will be available, with some high chairs associated with side tables, but if more than 30 guests RSVP, we can increase the audience area. The stage will literally be everywhere!
  • NOTE: The performance does not utilize strong scents or create an unsanitary environment. It does use gentle humour to explore themes of self-doubt, isolation and belonging.

Until then, get hyped with the Literal Trash playlist!

About the Artist

Adam Mohammed is a local physical comedy performer who loves 2D animation, Disney and Pixar stories, and their memorable characters.

After performing at Toronto Sketchfest 2023, a year of character work at SoCap Theatre, and being curated for Hercinia Arts Collective's immersive art parties, he has finally formed his non-final form.

His first arts grant-funded project is a unique monthly experimental theatre/physical comedy show rooted in audience co-creation and connectedness that can't be achieved through streaming TV series or traditional scripted theatre. It runs from April 2025–April 2026, exploring themes of self-doubt, isolation and belonging.

Adam is directed, coached and mentored by Isaac Kessler, who has been “in” comedy for over 18 years. Isaac is a 4-time Canadian Comedy Award nominee and one half of the award-winning ClownProv juggernaut 2-MAN NO-SHOW alongside Ken Hall.

About the Work-in-Progress Process

"I’ve been able to see excerpts of Literal Trash at two different events and it is funny, touching, weird and impactful..."
– Zita Nyarady, Grand Salto Theatre

"As an artist and creator who has struggled to create my outside-the-box work, I believe it is vital that we support new voices that challenge traditional processes and ideas."
– Emily Hughes, Hercinia Arts Collective

"After careful consideration, your submission ‘The Literal Trash Show’ was not selected for this year's festival [2025]."
– The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival

Code of Conduct

Literal Trash: A Comedy Experience is a welcoming show. It aligns with Tranzac's beliefs in both the logistical operations of the show and its artistic character-based performance involving moments of immersive audience co-creation.

We will:

  • Always act out of respect and concern for the expression and safety of others.
  • Respect physical and emotional boundaries. Respect the consent of each person, and act with that understanding. Always ask before touching, and check in before discussing topics that may be triggering.
  • Not make assumptions about identity, experiences, or pronouns.
  • Not use language that is racist, sexist, homophobic, classist, transphobic, cissexist or ableist.
  • Recognize that the impact of your words on other people is more important than your intent. Remain attentive to the folks you interact with, and accept respectful correction, or correct yourself when necessary.
