Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Kevin has cultivated an impressive reputation in the world of jazz and popular music over the past three decades, serving as a guitarist, producer, musical director, and composer.
A fervent soloist, an exemplary accompanist, and a versatile and innovative supporting musician, Kevin Barrett has graced the stage as a band leader, supporting musician, and musical director at various festivals, clubs, and concert venues across the nation and internationally, all while maintaining a consistent presence in the vibrant Toronto music scene.
Beyond leading his own musical projects, Kevin has collaborated with some of the most prominent figures in the Canadian music scene, including Sudbury's very own Patricia Cano, Molly Johnson, Sharron McLeod, Louis Simão, Lillian Allen, Kellylee Evans, Kevin Quain & The Mad Bastards, Julie Michels, Big Rude Jake, Adi Braun, Paisley Jura, Kira Callaghan, DKIbomeka, Jay Boehmer, and the Stratford Festival. Kevin has also served as the Musical Director for notable acts like Ron Davis' symphRONica, Daniela Nardi's ESPRESSOMANIFESTO, and Arts4All Creative Society.
Under his production label, kevinbarrettgroup Productions, he has overseen recording projects with the SPECIAL INTEREST group, Julie Michels, Jacob Langer, Melissa Boyce, Lisa Lindo, and Faustwork Mask Theatre. Kevin maintains a bustling recording and teaching studio in Toronto's vibrant Kensington Market.
