Macrame is not as intimidating as it looks. Start with a small DIY project like a keychain and get familiar with the basic macrame knots and techniques. In this workshop, we’ll go over a beginner-friendly keychain wristlet with a feather pattern using the 4 basic knots of macrame: the Double Half Hitch knot, the Square knot, the Lark’s Head knot and the Gathering knot.
Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).
The workshop is pay what you can! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
My name is Nicole, co-founder of Bochiknot and a self-taught macrame artist. Several years ago, I went searching for the perfect decor piece for my home and little did I know the fibre wall hangings I loved were called macrame. Bochiknot came about through my love of boho chic fashion and décor as well as my passion for knotting and everything about it. My ultimate goal is to inspire and to be inspired through teaching macrame. You'll find step-by-step DIY macrame tutorials by Bochiknot on Instagram, Youtube and Patreon.

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists.

Other than street parking in the surrounding area, there's reasonably priced parking in the Bow Parkade and underground TD Core Parking lot (745 4 St SW, Calgary, AB T2P 4K9) that we recommend for attendees! Weekday Evenings: (3 PM - 12 AM): First three hours after 3 PM free, $2 flat rate thereafter
The main area and workshop room are accessed without the use of any stairs/steps. Please be advised that the one washroom in the space is narrow, and unfortunately not currently wheelchair accessible. Free, disposable ear plugs are offered at the space.
