About this event

Welcome to Meet Cute - Queer Trans and Non-Binary Speed Social (for friending or dating)! Join us for a fun and exciting in-person event where you can meet new people in a COVID-safe space. Whether you're looking for friendship or romance, this event is the perfect opportunity to connect with others in the 2sLGBTQia+ community. The event will be held at 78 Hinton Ave N, so mark your calendars and get ready for a night of laughter, conversation, and maybe even a little bit of flirting. Don't forget to bring your mask! We can't wait to see you there!

This is a low/no scent, masked, and sober event! Please bring cash for mocktails ($5 each)!

Etiquette:

  • Don't assume someone's gender identity, or ethnicity
  • Don't assume someone's interest
  • Ask for consent before touching, even if it's just a handshake
  • Don't be homophobic or transphobic
  • Don't be racist or ableist
  • Offer your own contact info instead of asking for someone's contact information
  • Don't assume someone's age (do ask!)

If someone is being inappropriate or unsafe, please let Adrienne or Hingman know immediately and we will ask that person to leave.

Frequently asked questions

If the ticket is sold out, can I buy tickets at the door?

We have thought carefully about setting a capacity that creates the right environment for this event - so we will sadly not be able to sell tickets at the door. Make sure to follow us on Eventbrite so that you can catch a ticket early next time!

How much time will each speed portion be?

Each speed portion will be 3-5 minutes, about the length of a song! We will have a way to signify when it's time to switch up. We encourage you to talk with as many people as you can during the speed portion!

If I like someone, how do I get their contact info?

At the wind-down portion, you will give out your contact information to folks that you would like to keep in touch with.

If I can't make it or if I leave early, can I get a refund?

Since this is a pay what you can event, we will not be issuing refunds. Thanks for asking!

What if I don't like someone?

That sucks! You don't have to take their contact information if you don't want to during the wind down! If someone is being problematic or harmful, or going against the etiquette rules, please inform Adrienne or Hingman right away!!

Is there an age restriction?

You must be 18 or above to participate.

How does speed friending / dating work?

Folks will get name tags with a coloured symbol indicating whether they are interested in dating, friending, or open to either. People will first have time to mingle and get non-alcoholic drinks, and then the speed portion will commence! A wind-down portion will take place at the end.

Is this event bilingual / suitable for francophones?

We love bilingual pals! We cannot guarantee that everyone coming will be able to speak both languages, and so if you are interested in meeting other queer francophones, please let us know and we can try to build towards a francophone event.
