About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join us at La French Tech Toronto for an enlightening evening with David Dufresne and Matt Roberts, co-founders of CMD Capital, as we explore the entrepreneurial aspects of running a venture capital fund and delve into current tech market trends.

David, before co-founding CMD Capital, was a business angel, co-founder of Panache Ventures, and CEO of a startup from 2010 to 2015. Matt brings his own extensive experience in early-stage investments. Both are now raising a $50M to $75M fund to lead seed rounds in AI-driven software startups across various industries.

    Please Note:

    • Presentation Language: The main presentation will be conducted in English.
    • Q&A and Networking: Discussions and networking opportunities will be available in both English and French.
    • Refreshments: Enjoy free non-alcoholic drinks and appetizers ("apéro") during the event.

    Event Highlights:

    1. The Entrepreneurial VC: Venture capitalists often face unique challenges and constraints that mirror those of the entrepreneurs they invest in. David and Matt will discuss what it means to operate a VC fund with an entrepreneurial spirit, including how they define success differently from traditional startups.
    2. Tech Market Overview: Gain insights into the evolving landscape of the tech industry. Our speakers will share their perspectives on the investment climate aligned with their thesis, particularly focusing on the shifting balance of innovation power between startups to large corporations.
    3. Networking Session: As usual, at the end of the presentation, connect with like-minded professionals and tech enthusiasts in the tech and startup community, sharing ideas and experiences in both English and French.

This event is a must-attend for entrepreneurs, investors, and anyone interested in the intersection of venture capital and technology innovation.
