Join exhibiting artist Alex Tedlie-Stursberg for a hands-on workshop where we’ll explore the art of memory ware—unique, personal keepsakes crafted from found objects and air-dry clay.
In this creative session, you’ll be able to transform everyday items into lasting memories, all while learning new artistic techniques and celebrating the beauty of objects with personal significance.
Limited to 24 participants. $10.00 fee includes all materials.
Participants are encouraged to bring along small personal objects that may be incorporated into the final artwork, such as buttons, coins, bottle-caps, small plastic figurines, etc. All participants will take their completed projects home at the end of the workshop.
Open to participants of all ages.
Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult who is also registered in the workshop.
About the Artist:
Alex Tedlie-Stursberg is one of the exhibiting artists in Richmond Art Gallery's group exhibition Dear Plastic, from January 18 - March 23, 2025. Tedlie-Stursberg is a multidisciplinary artist and educator working across various mediums with a key focus on sculpture and installation. His work has been exhibited around the world; recent exhibitions include Utopos, with Keep in Touch Gallery, Seoul Korea (2021), Sous la Plage, les Pavés with TRAPP Projects, Vancouver, BC (2021) and an untitled exhibition with The Chan Family Collection Gallery, Vancouver, BC (2022). In 2020 he was awarded a Digital Originals grant by the Canada Council for the Arts and presented Atmospheric Supply, an online exhibition of activated sculptures. In 2021, he unveiled Cosmic Boulders, a public artwork in Port Moody, BC, facilitated by Ballard Fine Art. In 2022 his first artist book was published by TRAPP Projects. In July of 2023 he presented his first solo exhibition, Only The Stones Remain, with Monte Clark Gallery, Vancouver, BC. In 2024 he was an artist in residence at Boxo Projects, Joshua Tree, California. Stursberg is currently employed as a Visual Arts Studio Instructor with SFU Contemporary Arts. He is also involved in a variety of mutual-aid projects, the most recent of these being BIG TOP, which is a free weekly pop-up art school for DTES residents and marginalized artists.
