Mental Health is More than You Can Imagine – Building Capacity to Spread the Word

Date: Wednesday, November 27, 2024

Time: 9:30 am – 3:00pm (Networking Lunch at 12:00)

Where: Triple Room, Holland College, Charlottetown

You are invited to a workshop and working session designed for people like you: people who are working to improve the mental well-being of people in communities across the Island and looking for tools and processes that will engage others in taking an “upstream focus.”

Mental Health is More than You Can Imagine!

In March 2022, the Atlantic Summer Institute on Healthy and Safe Communities (ASI) released a policy brief called “Investing Upstream: Placing infant, child and youth mental health promotion at the forefront.” In this brief, ASI advocates for transformational change at all levels, and in all sectors, through investing “upstream” and taking a whole of society, whole of government, whole of community approach in promoting the mental health of our youngest. In February 2024, ASI and its partners piloted a workshop on PEI to facilitate working together for “upstream” action. Based on evaluations, the pilot workshop was refined and tested at ASI’s 2024 Policy Forum. This facilitated two-hour workshop will be offered in the morning session, when you will join others in experiencing the refined workshop: exploring what we mean by “upstream” and finding areas for collaboration.

Building Capacity to Spread the Word – The Agenda

The morning session will be followed by lunch onsite, providing time to expand your network. The afternoon will offer a working session, which will give you time to explore tools and processes that will make it easier for you — as a workshop facilitator, presenter, or conversationalist — to spread the word to your colleagues and stakeholders.

Register by November 18th.

Supported through funding from the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being and in partnership with the National Collaborating Centre for the Determinants of Health.
