Join us for an unforgettable evening celebrating the resilience and creativity of newcomer women, including immigrants and refugees, who have participated in the Needles & Narratives program. Over the course of 15 sessions, these women have transformed their migration stories and experiences of trauma into powerful works of art and clothing. This trauma-focused support group has empowered participants to heal and express themselves through sewing, art, and storytelling.
The event will feature:
🎨 Gallery Exhibition: A behind-the-scenes look at the creative process that led to the stunning fashion pieces. The gallery will showcase the stories, emotions, and craftwork behind the garments.
👗 Fashion Show: The highlight of the evening, where the women will unveil their handmade designs that reflect their migration journeys, cultural narratives, and personal stories of resilience.
🎶 Live Performances: Enjoy music performances that will add vibrance to this celebration of community and expression.
🍴 Finger Food & Appetizers: Indulge in a selection of light refreshments throughout the evening.
🎤 MC: Hosted by Lohifa Pogoson Acker, a local public figure known for her community advocacy and vibrant presence.
