The New Moon Shamanic Sound Journey will take place at the beautiful Conscious Lab in downtown Vancouver. The session will last approximately 90 minutes and be followed by a sharing circle, discussion, tea and snacks.
The New Moon in January marks a gentle yet powerful transition in the wheel of the year, inviting us into a time of rest, reflection, and cleansing. It is a moment to prepare for the year ahead by releasing what no longer serves us and clearing away the lingering remnants of the past. This is a sacred time for letting go, setting intentions, and creating space for new beginnings, aligning perfectly with the themes of the Shamanic Sound Journey. Together, we will honor this final clearing, connecting deeply with ourselves and the transformative energy of the New Moon.
The Shamanic Sound Journey is an exploration of consciousness and a pathway to self-discovery. It draws on the work of Michael Harner, a leading figure in modern shamanism, whose methods have reshaped how we understand spiritual journeying. This session combines sound and rhythm to create an opportunity for participants to access deeper layers of their inner world.
Harner’s research revealed that most shamans use repetitive drumming, or “sonic driving,” rather than psychoactive substances to enter altered states of awareness. The rhythmic patterns, typically in the 4–7 Hz range, synchronize with the brain’s theta waves, allowing participants to move beyond ordinary perception. This state enables access to the shamanic realms—the middle, upper, and lower worlds—where individuals can engage with spiritual guides, energies, and aspects of themselves often overlooked in daily life.
This journey also integrates elements of Norse shamanic practices, particularly seiðr—an ancient Nordic form of spiritual work involving trance, prophecy, and connection with the unseen world. Rooted in my own Scandinavian ancestry and training, seiðr traditions offer a unique lens through which to explore the shamanic realms. By blending these practices with sound healing, this session creates a bridge between ancient Norse wisdom and modern shamanic approaches, guiding participants on a deeply enlightening and meaningful journey.

A Space for Healing
The practice of shamanic journeying offers a way to confront and release old emotional patterns, including trauma and limiting beliefs. By working with spirit allies and the symbolic imagery encountered during the journey, participants can experience profound shifts in perspective. Many find this process helps them feel lighter, clearer, and more aligned with their purpose.
Reconnecting to the Sacred
This event is an opportunity to reflect on the deeper connections that weave together life—within yourself and beyond. By stepping into these realms, participants can rekindle a sense of meaning, understand their place in the greater whole, and reconnect with the sacred in a personal and authentic way.
After the journey, the evening continues with a sound bath featuring crystal bowls tuned to 432 Hz. This specific frequency has long been associated with harmony and balance. Guest practitioners will also offer hands-on Reiki to provide additional support for relaxation and integration.
Hope to see you soon!
