About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

In partnership with Vintage Coffee Roasters, Hamilton, and facilitated by Home Hospice Association's C.A.N.D.Y Café Program Manager Terri Viola-Wilson, this General Death Café provides an opportunity for people - often strangers, to gather together to discuss death. The event doesn’t have any particular objectives or themes aside from increasing everyone’s awareness of death and exploring our relationships with dying, death and grief. As we grapple with what life looks like today, having a safe and non-judgmental space to talk  about difficult subjects is so important and can have a significant impact both on how we live and how we die.

Free street parking and public transit is available close by, and the venue is wheelchair accessible.

Home Hospice Association (HHA) aims to help communities develop resources to care for their dying where ever they call home. Much of the agency’s work also focuses on helping all members of any community die a ‘good death,’ however that may be defined. We believe in normalizing death through education to professionals, children, families, and communities and strive to destigmatize dying and death.
