Pacific Voices - A Family of Choirs is set to captivate audiences this holiday season with their highly anticipated Christmas concert, "Good News, Great Joy." Scheduled for November 30th at Gateway Church in Abbotsford, this family-friendly event will feature two performances at 2 pm and 7 pm, giving the community ample opportunity to experience the beauty of Christmas. Audiences are in for a real treat, as the concert will be accompanied by a string quartet and showcase the exceptional talents of soprano Alison Nystrom and baritone Robbie Down, whose soaring vocals are sure to impress. The program is a carefully curated collection of cherished Christmas classics, each performed by a division of the choir with the signature passion and artistry that has become the hallmark of Pacific Voices. Featured this year will also be the choir's newest division, Elevate. This group consists of singers ages 18-30 who will perform Eric Whitacre’s piece, “Glow,” written for the World of Colour experience at Disney’s California Adventure.
Concertgoers can look forward to a powerful, uptempo rendition of the beloved "Children Go Where I Send Thee," complete with mesmerizing body percussion and even a rhythmic rap interlude. The peaceful melodies of "Peace, Peace" and Ola Gejilo's hauntingly beautiful "Ecce Novum" will provide moments of serene contemplation, while the joyous gospel strains of "Joy To The World" from The Preacher's Wife will have the audience tapping their toes (ok maybe even dancing!).
Under the direction of Artistic Director Sonja Hindmarsh and a talented team of directors and choreographers, Pacific Voices - A Family of Choirs is poised to deliver an unforgettable, must-see Christmas performance that will linger in the hearts and minds of all who attend.
