About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours 30 minutes

You’re in the right place if:

  • You’re curious and secretly admire the calligraphy craze on Instagram. You’re inspired to stretch your creative muscles. You wonder if this could be your new form of self-expression.
  • Or maybe you’re not confident in calling yourself creative, you feel a little dry, but you’re hungry for inspiration, for something new...a new creative outlet and a way to slow down your mind or heart.
  • Or perhaps you’re a closet calligrapher, experimenting on your own at home through youtube videos or library books. You wonder if real-time learning with like minded pen geeks might accelerate your learning.
  • Or maybe you’re searching for a fun and meaningful experience to share with your friends.

No matter where you are in your journey, these calligraphy workshops will refresh your heart and empower you with the creative confidence and tools to live an inspired and intentional life of impact.

This is your invitation to step away from the fullness of your daily life for a little creative space to refresh your heart and enjoy a time of relaxed fun, inspiration, and connection.

In a hyper-digitized super-speedy world, calligraphy and handlettering bring back a touch of personal and relaxation/reflection into your life and relationships.

In this introductory exploratory workshop:

  • GET GROUNDED: We'll start our time setting our creative intentions with a mindful exercise and address any anxieties around creativity or perfectionism. We'll hold space to engage freely with a spirit of playfulness, curiosity, and compassion for ourselves and one another.
  • GET CREATIVE: We'll deep dive into modern script lettering style with a pointed pen metal nib pen. Explore and speed date different pens from our community toolbox.
  • GET CONNECTED: Enjoy good conversation with those looking to create meaningful connections.

TICKET INCLUDES:

  • All supplies: Oblique pen holder, pointed pen Nikko G metal nib, bottle of ink
  • Worksheets with detailed stroke instruction
  • Personalized name tag
  • Expert instruction by a professional facilitator in an intimate small group setting (6 or less), with plenty of feedback time to ask all your questions and request specific demos. Bonus is great community connections!
  • Guided mingling time (with like minded people who will nerd out on pens with you)
  • Guided meditation exercise on intention setting and dealing with any pesky obstacles like inner critics or creative perfectionism
  • Demonstrations and detailed instruction (class size extremely limited to provide tailored feedback + increase community connections)

Frequently asked questions

I'm a beginner and have no experience. Is this for me?

While all of our classes are designed to be accessible to beginners, and while we have had beginners do well with this class, pointed pen is one of the harder styles to learn. You may want to try out this pen in our Sampler class or do our Brush Pen class, which is a good foundational step.

I have terrible handwriting. Can I do this?

Yes absolutely! We break things down by stroke, and go really slow. We also prioritize giving you the mindset needed to embrace the often uncomfortable process of practicing something new. Reducing perfectionism is one of the things we do best, w/ pro background in facilitation + coaching.

What's the refund policy?

Yes! You may purchase tickets directly on https://itjustflows.com/workshops for the listed/tax included price. Or email justine @ itjustflows.ca with interac e-transfers or cash payment when you arrive. Receipts can be provided.

I still have questions

Pop an email to justine @ itjustflows.ca. I aim to do everything I can to make this a great experience for you!
