About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Ever wondered what it takes to dream up your own unique fantasy world? Join this special pre-event worldbuilding multi-station workshop, right before the Nalo Hopkinson: Blackheart Man event for a taste of creating your own fantasy realm.

Starting at 6:00pm, join members from the Augur Society to learn fun, hands-on techniques to develop your own secondary world—from geography and culture, to religion and history. Whether you’re an experienced fantasy writer, or brand-new to the genre, you’ll have everything you need to embark on your speculative journey. All materials provided.

Founded in 2017, Augur is a literary nonprofit organization celebrating Canadian speculative arts. Augur published a quarterly periodical, Augur Magazine, and presents programming such as the biennial AugurCon. The Augur Society is committed to bridging the gap between the traditionally literary and traditionally genre spheres, showcasing the best of Canadian speculative talent on an international stage, and uplifting historically marginalized and underrepresented creators.
