Ready to make nature-based learning part of your teaching practice?

Join the Canadian Wildlife Federation for a day of hands-on professional development!

Throughout this workshop, we’ll demonstrate a variety of lesson plans, games and activities that you can use to incorporate nature-based learning into your classrooms and education programs. Together we'll explore best practices in environmental education and share practical, ready-to-use teaching tools that will help you engage youth in hands-on, experiential learning!

You'll also have the opportunity to build your confidence in planning and delivering environmental education activities through peer teaching activities and group discussions.

Note: This workshop is only open to those working within the Calgary Catholic School District.

What is Project WILD?

  • The Canadian Wildlife Federation's Project WILD program is an established environmental education program that help learners develop the awareness, knowledge, skills and commitment needed to make informed decisions and to take constructive action for wildlife, habitat and the environment.
  • The activities highlighted during the workshop can be used by both classroom teachers and non-formal educators, including resource specialists, conservation officers, camp counsellors and Scout and Guide leaders.
  • The guides contains all the information needed to successfully plan and run each activity (objectives, method, background, list of materials, procedures, evaluation suggestions, activity extensions, key vocabulary, etc.).

  • The location is currently being finalized, but will be hosted in-person at a venue within the Calgary city limits.
  • Additional location details, including driving directions and room location, will be provided after registering for the event.
  • Please bring your own lunch, water and snacks for the day.
