About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

You are invited to a public and stakeholder consultation:

The frequency and severity of extreme weather events are increasing. The City is proposing several Program updates to the Residential Protective Plumbing Program and By-Law to help residents better protect their properties from basement flooding. The program provides incentives for installation of storm and sanitary backwater valves and sump pumps.

Brian Simpson, Manager of Water Utility Customer Service in the City of Ottawa Infrastructure and Water Services Department will present the proposed amendments in detail.

This will be followed by a question and answer session and break-out table discussions.

CAFES is very pleased to convene this Climate Resiliency event in collaboration with the City of Ottawa staff. Residents have told us that flooding is one of your top climate impact concerns. And the insurance industry has told us that flooding is now the top claims area - exacting more damages than fire. Several councillors have already confirmed their attendance as well.

Refreshments and a light lunch is included. Admission free. All welcome.
