About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

Dawn your sequins and studs and come on down to a very gay hoe-down in E17!

No experience needed. We'll be leading (very sexy) beginner level lines dances all night long, plus we'll be teaching the basic two-step for some gender-free partner dancing.

Dykes and Dolls across the globe agree: Cowboy Carter was not a drill. It's time for London's queer scene to learn some classic line dances set to the enternal songs of summer.

Lessons start at 7:30pm. We'll be running the dances we learn at the start throughout the night to different songs—so don't miss out!

Accessibility information:

Line dance: Our line dancing lessons are open to all ability levels. Line dances typically involve stepping from foot to foot, kicking, and stepping moves like the grapevine. If you've ever seen folks dance the electric slide, that's the level of movement we'll be doing on the night. If any steps don't feel possible on the night, our caller is happy to provide modifications to keep you grooving on the dance floor.

Toilets: There is an accessible gender neutral toilet with handles and an infant changing table. The doors are wide enough for an electric wheelchair.
Venue (from the Walthamstow Trades Hall website access page):

The building is on a gradual hill. At the main entrance to the Trades Hall there is a ramp with a gentle gradient. This entrance has two entry doors, one after the other, leading into the foyer. If you do require assistance please email info@tradese17.com stating your expected time of arrival and we’ll ensure entry is as smooth as possible.

Our main hall is a large space with carpet and a hardwood dance floor and the main circulation route should be free from trip hazards and obstructions. A room for storing mobility aids is available.

If you are unable to stand for long periods we will be able to reserve a seated space for you. We have chairs with padded backs and wooden armrests. There are also banquettes on both sides of the room which are close to the stage with unimpeded sight lines. If you would like a chair or additional space reserved for you, email info@tradese17.com

Assistance dogs are welcome at this event.
