Rainbow Refugee is a Vancouver-based organization that supports people seeking refugee protection in Canada due to persecution based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and/or HIV status. Rainbow Refugee and the Canadian sponsorship program use a structure called Circles of Hope, which is a small group of Canadians privately sponsoring an individual, couple, or family to legally immigrate to Canada. As Circle members, we are responsible for helping with the application and other paperwork, fundraising enough money to support the newcomer(s) for their first year in Canada, and providing logistical and emotional support once they arrive.

Our Circle is sponsoring a trans woman who is a refugee in Beirut, Lebanon. Our Circle is named Aman, which means "safety" in Arabic and signifies the promise of community and hope for this wonderful person.

100% of the money that is raised goes directly towards helping our sponsored refugee build a life here.

This event is being held on the stolen, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh-ulh, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. As we live and organize space and events as settlers on these lands, we have an obligation to continuously work to repair harms perpetrated upon Indigenous communities, presently and historically.
