Red Dress Day

Come join us at the Indigenous Learning Centre, Grandmother Buffalo Healing Lodge

Red Dress Day, observed on May 5th, is a day of remembrance and action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S) in Canada.

  • The red dress has become a powerful symbol of the thousands of Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQ+ people who have gone missing or been murdered.
  • It was inspired by artist Jaime Black’s REDress Project, which features empty red dresses to represent these stolen lives.

Organized by

The Indigenous Knowledge Centre and Grandmother Buffalo Lodge, located in the Ontario Court of Justice - Toronto, is a multi-purpose space providing educational opportunities to members of the criminal justice sector as well as the general public.
