Please note that the field work involves physical labour with hand tools. You will have to be reasonably fit and we will require that you sign a waiver prior to commencing the work.

About the field day: Working with hand-tools we will be harvesting and planting willow and potted native plants. Our actions will provide an opportunity to improve habitat and water quality

This year's planting day will be led by the ERWP and Leaf Ninjas and in partnership with Bragg Creek Trails

Flora Giesbrecht - has 10 years of experience participating in and organizing restoration projects in the Elbow watershed area.

and Leaf Ninjas

Specializing in horticulture, Leaf Ninjas excels in ecological installation, fostering plant growth in challenging environments. With over a decade of experience in bioengineering, revegetation, slope stability, and riparian restoration, we serve municipalities, industrial sites, natural areas, and community groups, ensuring resilience and ecological balance.

W hy is this kind of work important?

We have noted that there are a few areas in West Bragg that are heavily impacted by land users including cattle, industry and non-motorized recreation. The areas are important because they are along Bragg Creek and Ranger Creek (designated critical habitat for Bull Trout). There is erosion, compacted soil, and bare/non-vegetated ground. These conditions can impact water quality and Native Trout.

To help improve the riparian area, improve Native Trout habitat, to lessen the risk of spreading Whirling Disease, to improve water quality, and to encourage beneficial management practices in the area, the ERWP and Leaf Ninjas are pleased to offer this project to hard working volunteers.
