Resurrection: The Michael Callen Story
Michael Callen was a singer and songwriter who played a vital role in AIDS activism, but has been largely forgotten in recent decades. He saved countless lives by inventing safe sex in the 1980s. He created the first buyers club in America. He fought with Dr. Tony Fauci to get drugs approved faster.
Resurrection brings Michael's story to life through live storytelling combined with performances of his music.
The show is touring Halifax following performances at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and Buddies in Bad Times in Toronto.
Resurrection is based on the award-winning Resurrection podcast which is dedicated to sharing the stories of queer people whose lives have been impacted by HIV/AIDS. Since its release in 2023, Resurrection has charted among the Top 15 podcasts in Canada and was recently named one of the best podcasts of 2024 by Amazon Music, the Irish Independent, and Podcast Review.
