This white paper aims to demonstrate to executives, mine designers, and the overall industry that whether the final outcome is increased throughput, improved cost per tonne, or reduced waste, a wide range of benefits can emerge from underground mine design that enables full value realization from innovation and technology. Further, the white paper will focus on approaches to derisking new technology and processes that support new approaches to mine design.

Understanding the nuances of rock mechanics, ventilation, milling, smelting and energy requirements are just some examples of considerations all mine designers must employ into their strategy when drafting a mine. When it comes to any deviation from traditional practices or trying to incorporate new technologies, mine designers are often limited in their capability.

This white paper will highlight benefits generated and shared by the mining community, as well as provide use cases and success stories to help encourage change.

The purpose of the workshop will be to perform an iterative review of the current draft, achieving industry alignment and completing the content generation phase of the project.
