The introductory workshop allows students to learn how to throw on a  potter's wheel and hand build. Adult participant highly recommended.

Each participant typically makes two pottery piece (up to 60 minutes wheel time) and handbuild for the remainder of the class (i.e. add a handle to a cup)

Optional: pieces can be painted when dry, kiln fired and are usually ready for pick up one week after.

Upon arrival, you and your partner will be greeted by our friendly and experienced pottery instructor, who will guide you through the entire process with warmth and expertise. They will introduce you to the fascinating art of pottery and share their knowledge, techniques, and tips to help you create your very own masterpieces.

Equipped with state-of-the-art pottery wheels, each family will have their own dedicated workstation, allowing you to work side by side and engage in a shared creative experience. The pottery wheels are designed to accommodate various skill levels, whether you're a complete novice or have some prior experience.

You'll begin by learning the basics of clay preparation, including wedging and centering techniques. As your hands connect with the supple clay, you'll feel its therapeutic effects, fostering a sense of unity and connection with your family. Together, you'll explore the tactile nature of the medium, shaping and molding it into beautiful forms.

Under the guidance of the instructor, you'll discover the art of throwing pottery on the wheel. With each rotation of the wheel, you'll witness your creations take shape, a testament to your joint efforts and artistic collaboration. The instructor will be there every step of the way, providing personalized attention, encouragement, and gentle guidance to ensure your success.

Throughout the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to experiment with different techniques, such as creating bowls, cups, or vases. You can also explore surface decorations, such as carving, etching, or glazing, to add a personal touch to your finished pieces.
