Are you interested in learning about sharing and stewarding seeds in a way they benefits your community? Join us as we explore seed stewardship with Bob Wildfong, Executive Director of Seeds of Diversity. During this workshop you’ll learn lessons that you can take back to your homes, community or school garden and green spaces. You’ll be engaged in hands-on learning, exploring, and take-home activities. Join us!

This workshop is a part of the YFS Seed Stewards Program where youth around waterloo region will help to increase access to open pollinated, heirloom, and regionally adapted seeds for school based food production, and support stronger school ground ecosystems through native plants and pollinator support by creating an inter-school seed library! These workshops are designed for youth and all ages the wider community are welcome! These workshops are facilitated by Youth in Food Systems with input from Nurture.

Upon signing up for this workshop please sign and submit the YFS Photo Consent Form & Liability Waiver for each participant. Please submit these forms to YFS's Program Manager Andrew at andrew@seeds.ca. If you have any issues or concerns, reach out to Andrew.

What should I bring with me to the event?

Be prepared to be outside during the event so dress accordingly based on weather. sunscreen, bug repellent, long pants (there could be bugs and ticks in the garden), work clothes (we’ll be working in and exploring the garden), and a pencil and notebook (to draw and design)are recommended.

If the event needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather or unforeseen reasons, we will let you know via email at least 2 hours prior to its start time. Please check your email leading up to the workshop. An alternate date will then be announced!
