Our Centre is excited to offer a high-fidelity simulation course in Adult Procedural Sedation, taught by our award-winning Mount Sinai Hospital teaching faculty!

We thrive on interprofessionally-based learning environments and encourage clinical teams to learn and train as a unit.

You will learn current requirements and guidelines related to Adult Procedural Sedation and will be provided with the tools to implement the recommendations at your workplace.

You will review pharmacology and issues related to airway management. Practice will take place using high-fidelity simulated environments. We use highly skilled instructors in video-based debriefing as part of the course.

A Certificate of Attendance will be issued as well.


Target Audience:

Sinai Clinical teams working in Emergency Medicine, Endoscopy, GI, GU, Respirology, Fertility Clinics, and any surgical specialties employing procedural sedation.


At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of protocols for procedural sedation. Risk-stratify patients with potential "difficult airway", including Mallampati – ASA scores.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with equipment and monitoring. Demonstrate knowledge of medications related to procedural sedation including reversal agents.
  • Demonstrate ability to recognize and manage complications as a part of procedural sedation team:
  1. Hypotension
  2. Hypoxia
  3. Over-sedation, delayed arousal
  4. Difficult airways
  5. Anaphylaxis
  • Appreciate the importance of inter-professional collaboration at local, institutional and community levels, including minimal personnel requirements, anesthesia and other specialties back up, roles of patient safety and ARC committees, etc.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of procedural sedation documentation, QA and protocols at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Yes, you will receive a receipt for your course tuition at the end of the course.

What should I wear?

You will be actively trying to resuscitate our simulated patients. Comfortable clothing is a must. The SimSinai Centre is a scent-free workplace and we ask that all participants refrain from wearing any cologne or perfume.

What happens if I cancel my registration, change my course date or don't show up for the course?
