The Winnipeg Arts Council is proud to present Sing-Along Cinema, a low-cost event for the whole family! Each night, we’ll have a special guest host and live accompanist to help lead the audience through some of the most beloved musical movies of all time. Join us at the Park Theatre from now until December.
You can dance, you can jive, you can have the time of your life with the Winnipeg Arts Council and City of Song! Featuring ABBA hits like Dancing Queen, Does Your Mother Know, and of course, Mamma Mia, come get warm in the Greek islands for an all-ages sing-along!
About the Film: Donna, an independent hotelier, is preparing for her daughter's wedding with the help of two old friends. Meanwhile Sophie, the spirited bride, has a plan. She invites three men from her mother's past in hope of meeting her real father. Rated PG-13.
Meet Your Hosts!
Jane Testar is a Winnipeg-based comedian and actor and member of more performance groups than she can remember. Including the musical improv company Outside Joke, sketch comedy Fringe favourite Hot Thespian Action and the Fu fu Chi Chi Choir. She has appeared on stage in Theatre Projects Manitoba’s None of This Is Happening, in French with Cercle Molière (Que Faire d’Albert?), in Noël Coward’s Private Lives (RMTC Warehouse), The Winter’s Tale with Shakespeare in the Ruins and most recently in The Piano Teacher at RMTC Warehouse. Jane has written sketch comedy for CBC Radio, was also known as a modern etiquette expert with her radio column “Miss Conduct”, is currently the host of the CBC Comedy Factory Podcast.
Chase Winnicky (he/him) is a queer performer and director based in Winnipeg. He has worked on productions across Canada with Royal MTC, Rainbow Stage, Dry Cold Productions, Winnipeg Studio Theatre, MTYP, Theatre Calgary, Mirvish, Bad Hats Theatre, the National Ballet of Canada and Diversified Theatre. You may also recognize him from a few Hallmark movies or that MPI commercial with Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets. His favourite ABBA song is “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! Renate Rossol, MMus, BMus, ARCT, is building community through her musical leadership in Winnipeg and abroad as a music director, pianist, vocal coach, and piano instructor. Renate works as a music director and rehearsal pianist and loves developing new works. She has music directed for Rainbow Stage (Ma-Buhay! Drafts 3 & 4), Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (Urinetown), Winnipeg Studio Theatre (Miss Shakespeare), Sick+Twisted Theatre (The Three-Penny Opera, Associate MD), Wasteland Productions (Evil Dead: The Musical), The All-Dentist Musical (The Addams Family, Bloodsuckers) Kitchen Party Theatre Festival (Newfoundland; Girls From Away, The Codfather), Secondary Characters Musical Theatre (British Columbia; The Last Five Years) and Dry Cold Productions (A Little Night Music, Apprentice MD).
