Event features the Venerable Rosalyn Elm (Oneida), professional musician Derek Miller, Art and Music from students, leaders and friends of Music for the Spirit Program based at Six Nations. Choose to participate in one of five workshops taught by students and facilitators of Music of the Spirit program based at Six Nations: Flat stitch beading Red Dress or Orange Shirt pin, Watercolour feather painting, Drum hide painting, Instrumental workshop or Vocal workshop

note: painted drums will be donated to the Music for the Spirit program for students. If you would like to keep your drum, you may purchase for $100.00

Session 1: Beading Workshop Instructors: Dawey Dale and Shilene

Level: All Levels

Explore the art of Indigenous beadwork and design in this immersive workshop. You will create a flat stitch beadwork project from start to finish while gaining a deeper understanding of the traditions and history of this craft.

This workshop is suitable for crafters aged 13 and above, and registration is limited to maintain an intimate learning atmosphere. Early registration is recommended.

Session 3: Acrylic Drum Painting Workshop Instructor: Music for the Spirit Leader

Join us for an acrylic drum painting workshop! In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to create an original painting on a drum hide while also learning about the Indigenous history and significance of the drumbeat. The sessions will be taught by a local Indigenous artist.

This workshop is open to participants aged 13 and above, and we have limited the number of spots available to ensure an intimate learning experience. We recommend registering early to secure your spot.

Please note that all drums and artwork created during the workshop will remain the property of the Music for the Spirit program for student use. However, if you would like to purchase your drum to keep for $100.00, please contact admin@featherandcross.org for payment processing.
