Single Meeples - Queer Dating Game Night (Ages 25 to 40)

Looking for a unique way to meet someone special in a fun and welcoming space? Join us for our new Dating Event Series: Single Meeples! We'll be kicking off this event series with our first Queer Dating Night on January 23rd at Snakes & Lattes Annex!

Hosted by the amazing Cal Campos (they/them), a beloved pillar of the Toronto Queer Community, this night is all about sparking connections in a fun and inclusive space. Expect playful activities with a craft corner, icebreakers & board games designed to take the awkwardness out of dating, prizes to keep things exciting, and a private room to ensure everyone feels safe and welcome.

With support from our incredible partners, UrBasics and Get REAL, this event is the perfect way to meet new people who get you. Whether you’re looking for love, friendship, or just a great time, Single Meeples has it all.

About Your Host

Cal (they/them) is all about creating Braver spaces and making people feel less alone.

They’ve been speaking openly about being Queer, Trans, Non-binary and Filipinx for over a decade, and currently facilitate inclusivity workshops with the Get REAL Movement. Outside of speaking, they uplift stories of marginalized communities through their media production company. Cal is an enthusiast of the card game We’re Not Really Strangers, rollercoasters, skydiving, and their orange cat, Gnar.

Who is this event for?

• You identify as Queer*! While we appreciate allies, this event is not for them, but there will be more to come, stay tuned!
• You are interested in dating
• You are looking to meet new people, and maybe find your person(s)

*Queer is an umbrella-term that celebrates the diversity of sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions. Historically, “queer” was a derogatory term to describe the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, but has been reclaimed by some of its members. It embraces identities such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, asexual, and more. Being queer is about authenticity, individuality, and a shared sense of community. This event is designed to provide a welcoming space for those who identify as queer to connect, laugh, and perhaps spark a special connection!

About the event:

• We will have different icebreaker activities through the night
• Our host Cal is here to ensure everybody feels safe, and enjoys the event
• Our Game Expert can help in game recommendation, and understanding the rules
• You can expect social games for getting to know each other like We're Not Really Strangers, Red Flag Green Flag, quick and easy games likeSpot it, Tapple, or party social games like Mind Reader, Blank Slate.
• We will switch table every now and then to help mingling

• UrBasics was created by a Toronto trans woman and her mom, an ally of the trans community, to respond to the need for a Canadian store with gear for gender expression and affirmation. They are kindly giving away four Packing Boxers, sizes S, M, XL, and 2XL.
• Get REAL is a Canadian non-profit focused on combatting 2SLGBTQ+ discrimination, racism, and bullying in schools, summer camps, and workplaces. They are kindly giving away two shirts, and two tickets to their Pride On A Boat event that happens before Pride weekend in Toronto!
