SmART kids

Miss Renee is at it again!! Now Cleverly rebranded as Miss F-Arty (short for Fine Arts), she’s excited to take her love for teaching through ART to a bigger stage! and she’s inviting YOU to be part of the journey! Thanks to Story Hive and the RMWB, we’re making history right here in Fort McMurray!

Join us to film the first 10 episodes of “SmART Kids” !

We have created a Live studio Audience TV set for Kids, where kids from the community will be a part of an exciting interactive Art Show. Participants will experience Live TV, and get a behind-the-“screens” look at what goes into being a “YouTuber”—something many kids dream of today!

Miss Renee has been an Art teacher for over 10 years, and if you know her, she uses silliness and humour to build connections with her students!! SmART kids will be no different!! Grown ups be warned, Miss F-Arty shares the same humour style as Captain Underpants, Shock value will grab the attention of or audience but she promises to keep that balance with expectations and manners.

Casting Information-What we are looking for!

We are looking for 30 kids per episode, parents are welcome to sit in as part of the audience. We’re open to casting kids between the ages of 6 to 13. Since this will be a live taping, participants will be required to remain seated and attentive for around 30 minutes, we are looking for kids who are excited, interactive and engaged. While the show will be fun and silly, a level of professionalism is needed during filming, However we do not want students that are so serious that they wont participate or think its “Skibidi” -lookin at you 13 year olds! Audience participation is the charm of the show so It’s important that the interaction between the host and the audience members is authentic and present ! If you feel your child can meet these expectations but are out of the age range, please shoot us a message. We will accommodate! We also welcome older students to volunteer and help out if they show interest in production.

The tapings will take place at the Oil Sands Discovery Centre, so feel free to arrive early and explore the centre to burn off any energy before the show begins (entrance fees Adult (18 to 64 $11)
Senior (65 and older $8)Youth (7-17 $7) Child (0 to 6Free)

What to expect

Please arrive before your call time to check in and fill out proper paperwork. Participants will enter the theatre at their chosen call time, in the theatre before the show starts, students will tour the set, they will learn from our amazing local production team about everything from cameras to lighting and set design. The idea here is to provide some interactive experience for the participants who show interest in specific parts of production!

Then, they will take their seats as the first SmART kids audience for the live taping! Our Host will go over expectations and we will begin the filming. Miss F-arty will create an art project on stage while interacting with the audience. We will wrap up the episode. After the show, we’ll take a group photo, and every child will receive a box of art supplies as they leave the theatre to continue their creative journey at home! The content we film will be used for educational purposes online, helping kids all around the world to learn through art. Total time in the theatre will be 45 minutes.
