About this event
Hearing loss can have a profound effect on an individual's well-being and ability to communicate effectively. Repetition, miscommunications and misunderstandings place great stress on the ability to interact and connect with others.
Provided in collaboration with Canadian Hearing Services, this five week virtual workshop provides guidance to caregivers supporting individuals who have suspected or confirmed hearing loss. Workshops will be held in a small virtual group setting, providing participants with the opportunity for personal input, peer support and social interaction. Each week will build on the content provided the week before, giving participants the knowledge to empower themselves and better support their care recipient.
Weekly discussion topics will include:
Week 1: Introduction to Hearing Health and Communication
Week 2: Factors that Influence Understanding of Speech
Week 3: Stress and Expressing Communication Needs
Week 4: Difficult Listening Situations
Week 5: Hearing Aid and Home Safety Equipment
By registering for Week 1, you are automatically registered for all 5 weeks of the workshop.
