Canada has many historical individuals and inventors, and this event is focused on Mr. George Foote Foss, from Sherbrooke, Quebec, who was an inventor and carmaker. More than 125 years ago, he was a prosperous mechanic, blacksmith and bicycle repairman, and invented Canada’s first successful gasoline engine automobile, which was referred to as the Fossmobile.

The Foss descendants have re-opened their family archives, to better document his accomplishments and to share this major Canadian creation with automotive enthsiasts and historians alike. George Foss’s grandson, Ron Foss, who himself is involved in automobile restoration, has established “Fossmobile Enterprises”, paying tribute to his grandtather’s invention. His mission is to share his knowledge and its history, which included the building of an exact replica with award winnng authenticity. This tribute Fossmobile was donated to the Canadian Automobile Museum in December 2022, and is currently on a cross-country tour of Canada.

Please join us as he shares his historic journey of reverse engineering the Fossmobile, as a tribute to his grandfather!
