The film explores the stories of Peggy and Nicolas Abkhazi and how their lives were caught up in the world wars. Their story brings them to Victoria where they created a beautiful garden and lived for the remainder of their lives. Abkhazi Garden is now a heritage site under the auspices of The Land Conservancy.
Dr. Geoffrey is a Professor in the School of Communication and Culture at RRU and the project leader for the War Heritage Research Initiative (warheritage.royalroads.ca). The website is home to over 30 films exploring Canada's heritage in the world wars.
The film screening will take place in the RRU Coronel Library at noon on November 11, after the 11 am commemoration service. Please feel free to attend both.
