Halina has always been drawn to the healing power of art. She says, "My intention is to remind the viewer of how intricately connected we are with nature, each other, and the universe. As a result, we realize how strong, resilient, and capable of healing we are." Inspired by mythology, folk tales, and stories, she finds familiar archetypes across ages and cultures. She continues, "We are all co-creators and magic makers, and by the very act of creating and expressing our spirit, we are changing the world and contributing to its expansion." The face and the human form are often the focal points of Halina’s compositions: "Faces are capable of inspiring empathy and self-reflection. From within each of us, a seemingly invisible but vibrant world thrives." The intimate self is expansive, and just as water flows in every direction, Halina’s favourite medium is watercolour.
Sarah Hunter’s work is expressionistic in nature and explores three distinct areas: portraits, animal imagery, and mixed media paintings. A graduate of the University of Toronto in Arts Education, Sarah has been practicing as a visual artist, exhibiting, and teaching art since the late 1980s. Sarah and Halina will lead a collage-making and mixed media workshop together, guiding participants on their own artistic journey of spiritual self-reflection and healing.
This is a 3-hour session, beginning with the talk and followed by the workshop.
Materials will be provided at cost, and light refreshments are included with your ticket purchase.
