Sqwá First Nation, the BC First Nations Justice Council and Qwí:qwelstóm Justice are collaborating on a two-day justice conference with influential speakers including Grand Chiefs Doug Kelly, Kat Pennier, Steven Point, and Willie Charlie. We will also have Cindy Blackstock as a keynote speaker along with panelists from the BC First Nations Justice Centre, Caring Society, Native Courtworker Association of BC, Our Children Our Way, and Qwí:qwelstóm presenting to empower insightful discussions focused on promoting self-determination and self-governance through Stó:lō-led justice and child welfare initiatives.
We hope to discuss the following:

2. Stó:lō Children and Families Well-being and Jurisdictional Pathways
3. Indigenous Justice Programs in S’ólh Téméxw
4. Indigenous Court Process

The conference will provide a platform for meaningful conversations and actionable steps toward positive change in our Stó:lō communities. We hope Stó:lō leaders can have a unified voice and work together on responding to justice and child welfare-related matters and initiatives. We hope to see you there!
