About this event

Tree Canada is excited to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO. This is the biggest NTD celebration yet, with planting events taking place across the country on both the Wednesday and Saturday of National Forest Week.

Join us to plant trees in your community and connect with nature. Volunteers will participate in planting 400 native trees (including white spruce, Jack pine, balsam fir, Manitoba maple, and willow), mulching, and watering after the event. We’ll also provide gloves and shovels! This event is completely FREE!

How you'll be making an impact

We are thrilled to continue our support for the greening of Fort Whyte Alive! This event aims to introduce additional trees along Fort Whyte Alive’s extensive trail systems. The planting sites are located throughout the understory of the aspen stands. The new trees will provide increased biodiversity, watershed protection, noise and dust reduction, thermal cover, wildlife habitat, soil stability, and recreational and aesthetic benefits, as well as cleaner air. Overall, integrating additional trees will enhance Fort Whyte Alive’s forest, creating a greener, more vibrant space for the community to enjoy.
