    About The Red Ma’at Collective: The Red Ma’at (pronounced ‘Muh-aht’) Collective, a registered not-for-profit founded in 2015, is committed to creating healing-centered, inclusive spaces for BIPOC youth and women in the Greater Toronto Area. We focus on providing anti-oppressive, empowering environments for Black, Indigenous, and racialized youth, women, femmes, and non-binary individuals.

    Our Mission: We aim to foster community and offer healing-centered environments for those affected by patriarchy, sexism, and misogynoir. Through intentional breathwork and collective journeys towards liberation, we celebrate our voices and nurture resilience.     Instructor Bios

    Ashley (@fit.teacherlife) Ashley has turned to movement and yoga as a grounding practice throughout her life. Starting as a competitive gymnast for 18 years, an NCCP coach, and obtaining a BFA in dance, she is now pursuing her Modo teacher training. As a high school teacher for marginalized youth in the GTA, she creates an inclusive environment where all students feel safe and valued. Ashley believes that movement is a universal language and a powerful art form to spark necessary conversations about racism, sexism, homophobia, and Islamophobia, collaborating with community partners to amplify BIPOC voices. She is also pursuing her PhD in Canadian and Indigenous Studies to bring awareness to Canada’s hidden history and amplify Indigenous voices towards reconciliation.

    Jennifer (@soundandyoga) Jennifer began her music journey at four, studying classical piano, and later opera at The Boston Conservatory. Her yoga journey began at 16, finding home with Modo Yoga and completing her 500hr training in 2018. Discovering music/sound therapy, she combined her passions to create a sound healing yoga class featuring live music, singing, crystal quartz bowls, and other therapeutic techniques, offering a unique understanding of body and mind.

    Brianna (@Brianna.oliver32) Brianna Oliver is a 500-hour Certified Yoga Instructor and Thai Massage practitioner with over 10 years of experience leading group classes, and local and international retreats. Certified in Modo, Modo Flow, and Restorative Yoga as well as Thai Massage, her clear and concise cueing makes her classes suitable for beginners and seasoned yogis alike, always fun yet relaxing.

    Thivja (@aanmaayoga) Thivja Sribaskaran, founder of Aanmaa Yoga, began teaching yoga during the pandemic to help individuals stay active and connected. Specializing in dynamic vinyasa classes that invigorate the body and calm the mind, she offers inclusive classes in Thamil and English for all ages. With a background in public health, Thivja blends her expertise to foster holistic wellness and accessibility.

    Miss Daisy (@missdaisy.ss) Miss Daisy is a passionate yoga teacher who has immersed herself in the practice for six years. Her yoga journey began as a personal exploration for well-being and anxiety management, inspiring her to share her wisdom with others. Nearing the completion of her international yoga certification, Miss Daisy teaches on behalf of The Red Ma’at Collective, embracing growth and expansion. As she evolves, so do her dreams, moving with the wind that guides her path.

    Tai Salih (@red_maat) Tai Salih (she/her), E-RYT® 500, YACEP®, is an unapologetic intersectional pan-African abolitionist and fierce womanist from Sudan who came to Canada as a refugee at 11. A multi-disciplinary social and healing justice educator and facilitator, she dismantles oppressive systems through roles as an integrative counselor, social justice advocate, anti-oppression educator, former wellness ambassador with Lululemon, and emergency response reservist with the Canadian Red Cross. Tai’s mission is rooted in decolonization and radical empowerment of marginalized communities. Her compassionate, intersectional approach uplifts and empowers BI&WoC and gender-expansive individuals through wellness, therapeutic yoga, and trauma healing education, fostering resilience and autonomy.
