The Empress Walk Initiative is a new, grassroots project providing training and support to African, Caribbean & Black (ACB) parents, children and youth living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Metropolitan Toronto.
There is a dire need and an extensive wait list for Autism services in Ontario which is not adequately meeting the needs of many families. Our initiative empowers Black parents by teaching them knowledge and skills about ASD, system navigation, the self-regulation approach and DIR Floortime.
The Empress Walk Initiative is a free, hybrid program that includes online training, in person workshops and a facility that can accommodate training and networking in a community safe space and culturally supportive environment.
We are looking for ACB single parent families to participate in our year-long program and are hosting an information workshops for those who are interested on November 17. Please register to receive your e-vite and link to this session.
The Empress Walk Initiative is funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and is working in collaboration with the Stolen From Africa organization.
