“I was very snobby about cover bands. I had never gone to see one before in my life, for anybody. I seen three while researching the book….I did a couple of things out east with The Fabulously Rich from Charlottetown who are hands down the best of any of them I’ve seen. Completely. And Fully.”
-Michael Barclay (Author, The Never-Ending Present: the Story of Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip)
The Fabulously Rich was formed in 2016 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island as a live tribute to The Tragically Hip. The band consists of lifelong friends and former high school bandmates, including Dennis, Trevor, and Greg, who began their music careers in the 90s with their rock and roll/grunge band, "Adam's Eve." The idea to pay tribute to The Tragically Hip came about when news broke that the band's frontman, Gord Downie, had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. The original plan was to reunite and perform a one-night tribute to the iconic Canadian band that they all loved and frequently covered in their sets.
In addition to honouring The Tragically Hip, The Fabulously Rich also takes pride in supporting local charities through their performances and donations. They consider it an incredible privilege and honour to bring the passion and connection of The Tragically Hip's music and live show experience to their loyal fanbase across Canada and around the world.
