About The Show -
The Really Real Flop Show is a one-of-a-kind comedy event that combines sketch comedy and improv games, presented by an ensemble of experienced actors and first-time comedians. Directed by Tushar Dalvi, Artistic Director of Rangaai Theatre Company, the show promises a blend of spontaneous hilarity, scripted sketches, and audience interaction, making each performance unique.

Themes range from light-hearted and silly to social satire, tackling topics like friendship, stereotypes, mental health, healthcare, inflation, immigration, and embracing failure. The show invites the audience to participate through a series of interactive improv games, including "Unplanned Murder," "Wildcard Audience," and "God Says," giving you a chance to share your quirks and play along with the performers. The show guarantees to give SNL-meets-Whose-Line-Is-It-Anyway vibe — all with a brown twist!

What makes this show special? It’s "pay what you can," making it an affordable night of fun for everyone. Expect flops and a lot of laughs with a talented team of wannabe comedians, bringing their unique comedic style to Toronto audiences.

The title The Really Real Flop Show highlights the heart of the performance — embracing failure and turning it into laughter. In comedy, a “flop” can be just as powerful as success, creating moments of genuine, unexpected joy. The show encourages audiences to redefine failure as an opportunity for fun and discovery. The idea is to “flop” together, celebrating the shared experience of not always getting it right but finding humor and humanity in the process.

Director's Note

This show is dedicated to the legendary Indian sketch comedian Jaspal Bhatti, who first introduced me to comedy before I even knew about Charlie Chaplin or Johnny Lever. His influence shaped my understanding of humor rooted in everyday life and human shortcomings. The Really Real Flop Show is a tribute to his legacy of finding humor in failure. My mentor, John Beale, often said, “We have more shit than desires in life, but we must find the path to our desires, and connect with it” Let this show be the step towards laughter, leaving all that “shit” behind as we laugh together!
