MEET YOUR GUIDES:

Faye

Faye Mallett is a sound artist and mindfulness guide who specializes in creating immersive soundscapes that promote deep relaxation and meditative states in listeners. Using a set of singing bowls and other calming instruments, her live sound baths reflect years of experience as a performing musician with certified training in mindfulness practices and sound therapy through the Lab of Meditation and the Institute of Traditional Medicine (ITM). Faye's work explores how sound facilitates personal transformation by balancing the mind and body. She produces intimately composed and improvised arrangements that invite states of deep listening and contemplative awareness, creating a space for listeners to connect with themselves and their surroundings on a deeper level.

Lyn
Lyn Sakari became certified as a meditation teacher in 2017 through Moment Meditation after two decades of a personal practice. Her passion for making mindfulness and meditation practices accessible in a safe and supportive environment led her to create 'Sit With Sakari' whose mission is to build community while awakening the individual. A lifelong student- Lyn is also certified and continously studying: MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction), Reiki (Holy Fire lineage), Kirtan (Bhakti Yoga), sound healing and is a Sound Ceremonalist, certified as a sound bath musician. She came to the intersection of these modalities as part of her own journey of awakening. Included in her sound scape journey are Crystal Tones alchemy singing bowls which are infused with gemstones and precious metals, thoughtfully selected because of their integrity and resonance. Lyn's set is one of kind and appropriately named 'Unity Consciousness'.

Frequently asked questions

Is the venue accessible?

The venue is down half-a-flight of stairs — if accessed from the front door entry. There is access at the rear of the building, however, and it is available to anyone who requests it. Please contact us in advance at thesaloncommunity@gmail.com to make arrangements.

Do I need to stay for the full experience?

Unless an emergency comes up, we ask that you stay for the full duration of the sound bath meditation. For the second half of the evening, you are welcome to stay for the entire experience or leave earlier if you wish.

Can I arrive late?

We've intentionally built in an easeful arrival and ask that you come by 7:15 PM, after this time we cannot permit anyone into the venue and the doors will be closed. Please arrive a few minutes early to settle in. Doors will open at 6:45 PM.

Can I consume drugs or alcohol?

This is a sober event and we ask that you do not take any substances prior or during the event. The sound experience itself can invoke elevated states of consciousness.

What is a Sound Bath?

In a sound bath, you hear and feel a symphony of tones from singing bowls and other overtone emitting instruments. The experience is often called a sound bath because it literally feels like you are being bathed in sound. It is a deep, somatic listening experience.

What can I expect to experience in a Sound Bath?

People often experience a sense of relaxation for days after a sound bath, reporting tension relief as well as improved cognition, sleep and mood. Throughout the session, your nervous system releases tension, your brain waves naturally slow and you shift into a relaxed, dreamlike state of being.

What may come up for me in a Sound Bath?

Some people may experience an emotional release or fall asleep during a sound bath. These responses are both very normal. Other people report sensations of floating, tingling, temperature changes and energy movement around the body. The experience of a lucid, dream-like state is also quite common.

Who do you recommend to not take a group Sound Bath?

If you are currently undergoing intensive therapy or treatments for PTSD and trauma, individual sound sessions are recommended as a starting point instead of a group experience, as these can be highly personalized to your needs.

Organized by

THE SALON offers a shared communal experience designed to nurture, delight and renew the spirit. Here, people can feel at home and authentically themselves, opening up the possibility of being transformed in some way—inside and out.

As a monthly gathering, THE SALON fosters peaceful connections and community by guiding people through a restorative, deep listening sound meditation followed by an open space to engage in reflection, conversation and dance.

It is a nourishing, uplifting experience where people can discover something new within themselves and new friends to connect with. As a warm homecoming to the senses, The Salon blends offerings that intersect mindfulness, art, music, movement and modern-day contemplative practices. As the gatherings evolve, each experience will be shaken up and curated with a different theme and guest appearances.
