About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

November is upon us once again and that means it’s time to celebrate our anniversary! November also means that this jam will be the last one of 2024. We’ll have another trivia contest and give away more Comic Books! This time Dave Howard wants to write the questions so they won’t be too impossible. There may or may not be another issue of our Comic Jam zine coming out this month.

Besides the festivities, we’ll have our regularly scheduled Comic Jam where we draw comics together while we socialize. Bring your pencils, pens and erasers and we’ll also provide the paper. This will be the last Comic Jam until January 2025, so please come out and have fun! See you in the backroom of the Cameron House at 7pm on Sunday November 24th.

(BTW, If you've never been, it's pretty simple. One person starts off a page by drawing a panel, someone else adds to it, we keep going until a page is finished and then all of the finished pages are collected into a zine that we print up for participants. It's a great place to hangout with other local artists and it doesn't matter what your drawing background is.)

Frequently asked questions

When you say Comic Jam, do you mean “Stand-Up Comics”?

NOOOOO! This is about DRAWING comics! We sit-down for this.Dalton keeps on saying that I should be advertising this as the Toronto COMIC BOOK Jam, but I refuse to make this less confusing.

I’m worried about my drawing skills, can I go if I’m an amateur?

Of course! It doesn’t matter what your drawing skills are like, everyone’s welcome here. Sometimes the simplest of drawings are the best drawings. Don’t get compare yourself to others and come and have fun drawing with artists from a variety of backgrounds

Is this place wheelchair accessible?

Sorta? If you call the Cameron House, they'll say they're wheelchair accessible but the washrooms are really tight and hard to get into, so I guess the place is sorta accessible ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I want to break into the comic industry, can you guys help me out?

Professional comic artist from various parts of the industry have come to the Comic Jam over the years but this isn’t the time or place to bring your portfolio for critique. A lot of Jammers self publish their work so you can maybe ask advice, but this is just a time to make comics and socialize
