About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Spots are limited. Please don't register for dates until you are sure you can attend. We don't want a full waitlist and an empty pool. Registration will remain open until one day before each Family Swim date.

Join us at the TVCC Therapy Pool for Family Swim! Grab your suit and join other TVCC families for a dip on any of these available dates.

For this swim program, parents/caregivers MUST accompany their child in the water and be within arms reach at all times, even if they are wearing a floatation device. Parents/caregivers must be comfortable moving through chest-deep water (1.2m), understand how to be safe in the pool, and be able to respond to the needs of their swimmer. If this does not describe the parent/caregivers comfort in water, please contact tr@tvcc.on.ca for alternate pool programs.

About the TVCC Therapeutic Pool:

  • The TVCC pool is 61m/24ft long, 12ft wide with a shallow end of 0.79m/2.5ft, sloping to 1.05m/3.5ft; there is a step down to 1.19m/4ft. There is a tot-dock in the shallow end for younger children to stand on.
  • The pool is very warm: 34C/93F.
  • Little Swimmers or a waterproof swim diaper/cover (no diapers!) are required for anyone unable to hold their bladder/bowel.
  • There are no food/drinks allowed in the pool area, pool change rooms, or pool washrooms.
  • Family Swims are supervised by TVCC staff, but they will not be in the water with you
  • The pool area is small; spectators are asked to hang out in the first floor waiting room and watch through the windows
  • We have a variety of toys and floatation devices you can use while you're here, but feel free to bring your own if you have something that works well
  • Our family change rooms are accessible and are equipped with change tables, bathrooms, and lockers (bring your own lock if you would like to use one)
