Frequently asked questions

How does trivia work?

The Quiz Master will read 60 general knowledge questions in three rounds. Work with your team to write answers in your booklet. Between rounds we switch sheets and mark/score answers. At the end of three rounds, the team with the most points is the winner.

What types of questions are asked?

Most games are split into 12 general knowledge categories that can be as general as "geography", or "movies"; or as specific as "Airport codes". You can see some examples of past questions here: https://www.bramptontrivia.com/archive

How much does it cost to play?

The game is completely free.

How many players should I have?

Teams can be up to 4 players. If you have 5 or more, consider splitting into two smaller teams. 3 players tends to be the ideal number--large enough to have different voices, but small enough that everyone can contribute.

What if I don't have a team?

No problem. If you don't have any trivia enthusiasts for friends, you can still play. Solo players can be added to a mix of other players and join a new team. It's a great way to meet other players (and the mixed teams tend to win most of the games).

What do I do when I get there?

Tell your server that you're there for trivia and they'll get you set up .

Do you play with phones or TV screens?

No. This trivia is old school. The entire game is played with paper and pens. There may be so multimedia questions from time to time. But for the most part, there are no screens involved in this trivia.

What are the prizes?

The winning team gets a free rounds of drinks. Occasionally there are additional prizes.

How long is the game?

The game is 3 rounds of 20 questions. Including breaks, the game tends to run from around 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Though it may run a bit long depending on how the game goes.

Who writes the questions?

The questions are all provided by that week's Quiz Master or host (the person reading the questions). Most Quiz Master's write their own questions. Incidentally, the Quiz Master rotates every week and anyone can be sign up to write and host a game.

What if there's a dispute over a question?

The Quizmaster is always right. If you have a complaint about a questions, the Quiz Master will likely hear you out and may adjust your score--but that's entirely up to the Quiz Master's discretion. If all else fails, feel free to rant about it on the car ride home.

How do I get to Tracks?

Tracks is a 3 minute walk from the Brampton Innovation District GO Station. There is free (limited) parking in front and behind Tracks.

What if I'm not very good at trivia?

Don't worry if you aren't very good at trivia. That doesn't stop many of the regular players. You never know what the questions will be and that one obscure thing that only know about could come up this week. The point is to have fun, and that's not necessarily the same thing as being right.

Does spelling count?

Noep.
