About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Tree Canada is excited to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO. This is the biggest NTD celebration yet, with planting events taking place across the country on both the Wednesday and Saturday of National Forest Week.

Join us to plant trees in your community and connect with nature. Volunteers will participate in planting and mulching 1,400 native trees and shrubs, and 200 wildflowers. Tree Canada experts and volunteers will be there to provide support and answer your tree questions. We’ll also provide gloves and shovels! This event is completely FREE!

How you'll be making an impact

We are thrilled to continue our support for the greening of Milne Dam Conservation Park! This event aims to restore forest cover in Milne Dam Park on the Rouge River, creating essential habitats for wildlife, including birds, mammals, and pollinating insects. Once the trees are planted, the areas will be left to naturalize, contributing to the absorption and storage of carbon and water, which helps mitigate climate change impacts and reduce flooding risks. The mature trees will enhance human health by filtering air and water pollutants, provide shade, and promote healthy outdoor activities, improving public parklands and supporting biodiversity and ecological integrity.

Additionally, the project will benefit aquatic life, including species at risk such as trout, salmon, and redside dace.
