    WHO ARE THE ARTSISTS?

    Thelonious @thesou1ion

Thelonious Lee Dexter is a multidimensional artist, musician , performer and co-creator born and raised on the unceded ancestral territories of the Musqueum, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish people, colonially known as Vancouver. Coming from a mixed diasporic family heritage (Korean + Celtic / British) as well as an embodied connection to the lands we are presently on, Thelo often plays between the cracks of ancestral identity and belonging amidst the fringe of post-modernity and ongoing cosmic revolution. Thelonious is a lover of the weird and wild, the mythic and whimsical, and their work aims to explore the natural and spiritual realms that intervene in and between the experiences of being human. Thelo is one part of psychedelic hiphop crew ‘Off Topic’ (@offtopicmusic) as “TK thesoulion”and ‘earthen bodies’ creative collective with their partner Alyssa Amarshi . They love to sing, play guitar , drums , bass and enjoy making beats and loops as a way to connect to the world through sonic expression

    Ahsia @ahsia.wav

Soulful. Poetic. Healing. Energizing. Straight out of Philadelphia, raised in the vibrant culture of "Vancouver", emerges the multi-talented AHSIA ("uh-sigh-uh"). She is a singer, songwriter, producer, and educator with versatile flavors spanning from R&B and Soul, to Jazz and Hip-Hop. Through her melodies, she invites you on a journey through her lens, revealing the trials of self-discovery, the pain, the healing, and the growth through it all.

    Ella @mixedbyellag

Ella Gonzales (she/her) is an audio engineer, R&B artist, and writer. Born in Cebu, Philippines, she immigrated to Canada at 9 years old with her family as economic refugees. After settling in so-called Vancouver and graduating from audio school in 2021, she is now working in the industry and has her hand in almost all aspects of music, from performance and writing to engineering. She has been a musician from a young age, and owes her musical DNA to the neo-soul and golden-age hip hop movements. Her work, both onstage and off, is cultivated by a deep reverence for the communities that originated contemporary R&B and soul music. She operates out of Helm Studios as a writer, engineer, and vocal producer, with Helm's primary focus being providing services for queer, BIPOC, and high barrier artists. She is an anti-capitalist and passionate about community initiatives dedicated to amplifying the voices of underrepresented BIPOC artists and musicians in Vancouver.

    MEET OUR VENDORS

Alyssa Amarshi is a mycorrhizal mover and shaker of Tanzanian-Indian heritage residing on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm lands in so-called "Vancouver." Her passion for performing and expressing grew while she was working with Bollywood dance companies as a preteen. In high school, while homesick and lonely at boarding school, a few friendly dormmates from the West Indies would bound into her world and re-ignite her love of dance by introducing her to the cultures of Dancehall, Soca, STEP (a form of percussive dance) and Hip Hop. With the fire of dance in her belly, she continued to be a student of Dancehall, Hip-Hop and Popping while completing her BA in Psychology at McGill University. After moving to so-called Vancouver, she trained with SOULdiers Dance Company and Ketch Di Vybz where she further fortified her understanding in different Street Dances and love of Dancehall. Incorporating her background and her learnings of different dance styles, Alyssa explores body, voice and spirit by weaving in these cultures to her intuitive exploration of other modalities. Alyssa is grateful for the opportunity to share her expression in all ways and feels lucky to have graced the stage with local and international artists, to have choreographed music videos, and be featured in commercial dance media. She has creative directed, choreographed and performed in pieces for vAct, New Works, Vines Festival, Indian Summer Festival, Surrey Art Gallery and Vancouver International Children’s Festival. In her artistry she is most excited about extending her web of relations through intentional land-based musings, lichenous meditations, live performances, dancing at Robson Square, choreographing for festivals, moving with the forest, eating yummy vegan treats, and soul-filling community jams. She is honored to be apart of art collectives Her Tribal Roots, Earthen Bodies, Mycelial Love and Enable Arts, all of which aim to co-create sustainable, resilient, and joyful artistic ecosystems. With collective dreams as inspiration, Alyssa’s vision is to cultivate reciprocity with self, fellow beings, and the Earth through art, expression, and play.
