Dive into the world of local clay with ceramic artist Karlie King. Inspired by KC Adam's exhibition owîceskoyakinikewak (s/he who shapes mud), connect to the past and the earth by digging your own clay for your project!
An archaeologist will share the little-known history of ceramics in this area, which stretches back 2000 years BP. Learn the secrets of processing clay, including removing rocks, separating calcium from your clay, kneading and adding temper to improve how the clay reacts to heat. Participants in this free workshop will also discover the ceramics traditions of First Peoples of this land, how to season clay pots for cooking and how Glacial Lake Regina created our famous "gumbo."
This unique opportunity to connect with Regina's natural resources is open to adults of all skill levels.
Presented in partnership with the Saskatchewan Archaeological Society.
