Unless Art Exhibition

Calgary-based multidisciplinary artist Michelle Atkinson invites you to a unique pop-up art event where she will be showcasing her newest body of work (the Unless collection).

Informed by extreme weather data from across Canada during 2023, the Unless collection is an abstract visualization of how humankind’s actions are linked to climate change. Disastrous data is camouflaged in beautiful configurations and shiny materials – a cautionary tale.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.

Is there parking?

SAIT offers flat rate parking after 4:30 pm for $7. The closest parking lots to the Johnson-Cobbe Energy Centre are P2, P3 or P6 (there will be a few signs outside the building to guide you in). Link to full SAIT parking information: https://www.sait.ca/about-sait/campus/transit-and-parking

Can I invite friends to come with me?

Yes! While this is technically a private event, all are welcome. Bring anyone along you think might enjoy the work.

Is there a dress code?

We welcome everyone to come dressed in any way you feel comfortable. If you want to use it as an excuse for some glam, please do! An art show does not need to be intimidating, we want you to visit and enjoy the work, regardless of intent to purchase.

If I want to purchase a piece can I do so at the event?

There will be staff on hand to take your contact information and Michelle will connect with you the next day about payment, delivery and installation. Each piece will have a QR code with a link to a web gallery if you want to share the work with friends or return home to ensure fit.
