About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Between its foundation in 1898 and 1955, the Women's Historical Society of Ottawa dedicated themselves to preserving, producing, and sharing historical knowledge about the city and valley of Ottawa. Among their many activities, they produced scrapbooks that contained a wealth of archival documents, primarily newspaper clippings. How were women of the Historical Society of Ottawa contributing to collection and archival practices? And most importantly, through their scrapbooking practices, how were they preserving the history of Canada’s marginalized communities? These are some of the questions that will drive students’ research and projects throughout the semester.
