What to prepare for your audition:
- You must select and learn one monologue of your choice AND one scene from the options found HERE.
- You must submit a copy of the scene and monologue in advance for the audition reader to use.
- Submit an actor resume, if you have one.
- We will share more information with you on how to do this once you have registered.
What to expect on audition day:
- It is an on-camera in-person audition, in front of a panel.
- There will be a waiting room; please allow for a wait time up to 15 minutes.
- You will be asked to present your two contrasting pieces (one monologue and one scene; not more than one minute each).
- We will have a reader off-camera to be your scene partner.
- Be ready to share and talk about your experiences as an actor or bring your creative resume.
Tips for the audition material:
- Find contrasting material/scripts.
- Look for a strong range in emotion/characters. For example, one comedic and one dramatic piece.
- Find characters who are age appropriate and realistic to your casting range.
- Memorize and rehearse the monologue and scene (two-person scenes are best).
- Make the characters your own. Don’t recreate other actors’ performances.
- Remember: the monologue and scene should be no more than one minute each.
Don’t like waiting? No problem. You can submit a self-taped audition for us to review at any time. Call our Admissions office at 1-800-661-4101 to find out how.
